The project involved a comprehensive overhaul and expansion of several key areas within the facility. In the main building, a new mezzanine structure weighing 45 tonnes was introduced, covering both the level and the roof. This was accompanied by a complete strip-out and fit-out of the internal spaces to accommodate new offices, dance studios, creative studios, changing facilities, team rooms, and ablutions. These updates transformed the interior into a modern, multi-functional space.
Adjacent to the main building, a new 900m² skate park was constructed, featuring robust concrete retaining structures and an impressive 8-meter high rammed earth feature wall. This skate park was designed to offer a dynamic and engaging environment for skaters of all levels.
The social yard underwent significant development, including the installation of a 48-tonne steel canopy structure adorned with 410 bespoke re-bar shade tiles, each intricately crafted with 128 individual rebar shapes. The area also featured a basketball and multi-purpose court, vendor kiosks, and a 250-meter rammed earth wall. Various concrete retaining structures were added to support the layout, along with artwork light boxes, external gym facilities, and refurbished 5-a-side pitches. Additionally, a new community vegetable garden was established, fostering a sense of community and sustainability.
For sports enthusiasts, new FIFA-certified 11-a-side football pitches were installed, with both new and refurbished bleacher seating to accommodate spectators. The athletics track saw the addition of a 300-meter tartan track, complemented by extensive landscaping covering 16,000m². This provided a top-tier training and competition space for athletes.
A 1,000-meter cross-country track was developed around the facility, offering a challenging and scenic route for runners. To enhance the overall functionality and aesthetics of the site, public walkways and landscaping were created outside the plot boundary. Existing parking areas were reconfigured and refurbished to improve accessibility and convenience.
Lastly, new external storage facilities and structures were constructed, and a 400kVa generator was installed to ensure a reliable power supply. This comprehensive project aimed to create a versatile, state-of-the-art facility that met the needs of the community and supported a wide range of activities.
